Tree Songs. 48” x 36” Oil and wax on canvas

AXIS: MUNDI is a series of paintings that explores the language of trees. Living in the above and below, trees are recognized as a bridge between earth and sky. Through an exterior and interior study of tree anatomy

This is an inward study into deep listening; the quiet interconnectivity that comes from rooting into silence.

These works are inspired by long meditative walks through the woods, a series of tree portraits, as well as the work of Robert McFarlane- UnderLand: A Deep Time Journey, Leah D. Schade- Rooted and Rising: Voices of Courage in a Time of Climate Crisis, and Peter Wohlleben- The Hidden Life of Trees: What They Feel, How They Communicate- Discoveries from a Secret World.
